The Truth About Video Games and Anxiety

Video games are often blamed for addiction, distraction and anxiety. But Kate Sweeny, a psychology professor at UC Riverside, shares research showing that games like Tetris can help us enter a state of “flow,” absorbing our attention during periods of stressful uncertainty and reducing anxiety while we wait. We learned a lot from this video about why some distractions can actually be good for us—and why getting lost in a game isn’t always a bad thing.
