The WPATH Files

We’ve been working with Michael Shellenberger for the past few years, and the graphics package for his Genspect presentation on The WPATH Files was one of several projects we have created with him for Public.

The presentation draws on internal documents from the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, compiled and analyzed by journalist Mia Hughes for Environmental Progress, and argues that so-called gender-affirming care has enabled pseudoscientific hormonal and surgical experimentation on children, adolescents, and vulnerable adults. Michael also makes the case that these practices disproportionately harm gay, lesbian, and bisexual people, while professional institutions have suppressed evidence, ignored serious ethical concerns, and failed to protect patients.

We edited the 30-minute presentation and created its complete visual package, including the title design, motion graphics, document treatments, archival integration, and graphics throughout.

Going through the material was often difficult and harrowing. Our task was to organize a large body of documents, testimony, and evidence into a clear visual argument without dulling the human cost of what the files revealed.
